SMS Studio is capable of communicating with a large number of Nokia phone models by using this protocol. This is useful for connecting Nokia phones which do not have a built-in modem with GSM AT support.

SMS Studio identifies SIM cards on Nokia Type 1 phones by using the phone number of the SIM card (i.e. the mobile subscriber phone number). What would be a recommended way of organizing my SMS Studio files? In order to make it more easy for the backup, upgrade and reinstallation purposes, and also to protect your files from system crashes or virus attacks, we would recommend that you follow these guidelines. Install SMS Studio in your default Program Files folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\CodeSegment\SMS Studio). Your SMS Studio files should be stored on a non-system drive (e.g. D:\SMS Studio). Use Tools - Options dialog - Advanced tab - Application - Store folder option to set the SMS Studio's store folder. Create a folder within the store folder for your services (e.g. D:\SMS Studio\Services). You can also keep the SMS Studio setup and other related files in the separate folder (e.g. D:\SMS Studio\Install).
